In 2015, the Schaberg Foundation became aware of the large number of refugees resettled in Henrico’s West End. While services were available, there were limited collaborations and a lack of shared information. The Foundation brought these nonprofit leaders together, along with interested volunteers, faith communities, and members of the refugee community, and a network grew and leadership emerged. The International Rescue Committee Meeting now serves as the regional hub for services. Over time, the Schaberg Foundation has supported an expanding circle of service providers to the refugee and immigrant community.
